For Your Visit:

-Our building and bathrooms are accessible by wheelchair. Two accessible parking spaces are located by our front door and two curb cuts can be found along our sidewalks. Our front doors can be operated by push buttons.

-Accessible keyboard, mouse, loop scissors, and communication boards are available upon request.

-Wide chairs are available.

-Service animals are welcome, pets are not.

-Our community programs can be crowded and/or noisy. If you have sensory sensitivities, feel free to call the library ahead of your visit to see if any large programs are scheduled. 518-279-4023

UHLS provides a Books by Mail service for individuals in our service area who have difficulty getting to the Library on account of loss of vision or other disability. We mail up to three large print or audio (CD) books at a time at no cost to the recipient.

To request additional titles once you’ve registered, you can include your request on a note with the books you return, you can call us at 518-437-9880 ext 243 or ext 255, or use this form: https://blogs.uhls.org/uhls/books-by-mail-request/

Books will arrive in a library mail bag, and have been checked out to your library account. When you are ready to return them, simply flip over the mailing label in the window, and put the bag with your outgoing mail. The New York State Talking Book and Braille Library (TBBL) is a free library service for eligible residents of upstate New York who are unable to use standard print materials due to a visual, physical or reading disability. The TBBL collection includes print Braille books, and fiction and nonfiction audio and braille books, with over 70 magazine subscriptions available as well.
