Elections
The 2008 New York State presidential primary will take place on February 5. The Primary Election is September 9, 2008 (unofficial). General Election is Tuesday, November 6, 2007.
To register to vote in New York State You Must:
- be a U.S. citizen;
- be 18 years old by December 31 of the year in which you file this form (note: you must be 18 years old by the date of the general, primary or other election in which you want to vote);
- live at your present address at least 30 days before an election;
- not be in jail or on parole for a felony conviction and;
- not claim the right to vote elsewhere.
How to Register
- You can register in person at your county board of elections - select by map or text list
- or at any New York State Agency-Based voter registration center. (This is commonly known as the Motor Voter Act.)
- You can enter your name directly into the New York State Board of Elections (NYSBOE) mailing list database.
- You can call NYSBOE's 1-800-FOR-VOTE (367-8683) hotline to request a voter application.

- You can complete the form on-line by typing the neccessary information and selecting the appropriate boxes. Then you need to print the form and sign it. Alternately, you can print the form, complete it by hand, and sign it. Once the form is completed and signed, mail it to your county board of elections.
