Hey Kids, ‘Cool’ Science!

3391352821430.24388The Summer Reading Program has begun!  Join us on Thursday, July 3 at 3:30 for Cool Science, Ice Cream Sodas!  Learn about ice cream and the cool chemistry of making it and then add it to your soda for a sweet, fizzy treat!  The program is being presented by the Scotia-Glenville Traveling Museum.

Library Visit

Library VisitFour Kindergarten classes from Tamarac Elementary School visited the library on Tuesday, Jun 24. After a couple of stories, a tour of the library, and decorating their own reading-record bookmark, each student received a coloring book and a certificate to Applebees! Some students even received their own library card!

FREE LEGAL WORKSHOP – Thursday, June 26, 2014

Do you think you’re in need of an Order of Protection? Do you have custody and visitation concerns and just don’t know what to do? Are you confused about your rights and what services are out there to help you? Come find the answers to these questions and more at a legal workshop titled “The Expansion of the Family Court Act”. An attorney will be on hand to provide information and confidential individual consultations regarding family court matters on Thursday, June 26, between the hours of 11:00-12:00 pm. Brunswick Community Library (Brunswick, NY)

The Brunswick Community Library is seeking is an energetic and creative leader with a passionate commitment to public library service for the position of Library Director.

The Library Director reports to the Board of Trustees and holds primary responsibility for the overall operation and management of the Library. Duties include, but are not limited to; planning and implementation of library programs and services, fiscal oversight and budget management, supervision of library personnel, and management of the library facility. As an official representative of the library to the Brunswick Community, the Library Director demonstrates an enthusiasm for community engagement and establishes effective working relationships throughout the community.

The Brunswick Community Library strives to provide access to information, opportunities for lifelong learning, and a gathering place for the community.   A Free Association Library serving a user population of 12,000, the Brunswick Community Library has a total annual operating budget of approximately $160,000 and occupies a beautiful 2,400 sf facility.

The minimum qualifications for this position are a Master’s Degree in library science or equivalent from a school that is accredited by the American Library Association or recognized by the New York State Education Department; a New York State Public Librarian certification; and at least three years of professional experience that includes some supervisory and administrative experience.

This is a full-time position with a competitive benefits package and a starting salary range of $40,000-45,000, commensurate with experience.
