Museum Passes

Did you know you could check out passes for free admission to area museums? The passes circulate for three days, and are available on a first come, first served basis–they cannot be “reserved”.   We have passes for the following institutions:

Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute:

“…the Institute has built upon this extraordinary group of works to become one of the most beloved and respected art museums in the world, known for its intimate galleries and stunning natural environment….A variety of special exhibitions is offered throughout the year, bringing together works from collections around the world and presenting them in intelligent, enlightening, and visually appealing installations.” The pass admits 2 adults, children are always free.

MassMOCA:

“Since opening in 1999, MASS MoCA has become one of the world’s premier centers for making and showing the best art of our time. With annual attendance of 120,000, it ranks among the most visited institutions in the United States dedicated to new art. More than 80 major new works of art and more than 50 performances have been created through fabrication and rehearsal residencies in North Adams, making MASS MoCA perhaps the most fertile site in the country for new art. The museum thrives on making and presenting work that is fresh, surprising, and challenging.”  The pass admits up to two adults and 2 children.

Berkshire Museum:

“At the Berkshire Museum, there’s something for everyone. We offer a unique blend of exhibitions, galleries, and attractions for families of all ages. See exhibitions, fine art, and sculpture from around the world. Explore our touch tank and aquarium. Be amazed at our collection of artifacts from Native American cultures and ancient cultures of Egypt, China, and more. Marvel at the technology that awaits in the new Feigenbaum Hall of Innovation.” The pass admits four guests.

Book and Movie Group Cream Tea

cream teaOur Book and Movie group is meeting today, Friday, 4/16, to discuss “Sense and Sensibility”, by Jane Austen. The cream tea they’ll be enjoying includes blueberry scones, ginger scones, Bath cakes, sandwiches and lemon cake.  This picture was taken before the ravenous readers set upon it. The tea itself came from Harrod’s, in London.

The group will convene next week, 4/23,  at 1:00 to watch the movie adaptation. This is the 1995 version, which Emma Thompson wrote the screenplay for, as well as starred in. (She won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay). You are always welcome to join the group for both, or either, of their two monthly meetings. Bring your opinions, a sense of humor, and a healthy appetite!
