The Brunswick Community Library will be hosting a three-part Writing Workshop: “Go Ahead, Make a Scene“. Saturdays July 19, 26 and Aug 2 from 2-4pm. Registration is required – 279-4023. The meetings will focus on how to craft scenes in fiction and memoir. The workshop will also address other aspects of the craft such as transitions and backstory and will have specific exercises. The workshops are free and are for writers of all levels, facilitated by local writer Susannah Risley and funded by Poets&Writers, Inc.
A surprise visit from Dairy Princess Abbie Tarbox marked the start of our summer reading program!! A good crowd got to see, learn and participate in the science of making ice cream, yum!! Everyone got to taste their ice cream in ice cream sodas! Many thanks to the Scotia-Glenville Traveling Museum for a fantastic summer program kick-off!
Reading is an important skill that will help your child in school and in life. Any kind of reading counts – comic books, magazines, picture books, chapter books, eBooks too! There are a lot of activities scheduled this summer for our young readers. Children from preschool to teen are invited to join up and keep track of their summer reading. There will be special visits from the Scotia-Glenville Traveling Museum, the Tang Teaching Museum and South Paw. Prizes will be awarded at the Farewell to Summer Party! All programs are held at the library and start at 3:30pm except where indicated. Events include:
